What Are Fossils
by Mr. Needleman's 2nd Grade Students
Fossils are what is left behind from long ago. Fossils can be bones, shells, or plants hardened in mud after thousands of years. They can also be eggs, teeth, or even footprints! Scientists have to work hard to dig up and put together fossils. Fossils can be found in the ground anywhere.
It is important to model for students how to write paragraphs. This is a paragraph written about fossils cooperatively with input from the whole class. Return to Fossil Unit
