Mathew Needleman, Apple Distinguished Educator, has been integrating digital video into the elementary and middle school curriculums for twelve years. He has just finished his sixth year of classroom teaching, specializing in English Language Learners and mainstreamed special education students from low income families. He is currently a literacy coach with Los Angeles Unified School District. He maintains an independent filmmaking career.
Mr. Needleman has taught Technology in Education at Antioch University and provided professional development for numerous school districts, county education offices, conferences, and workshops.
His classroom films have won numerous VIC (Video in the Classroom) Awards for including Best Implementation of the District Reading Program and have been finalists for best overall production in the California Student Media Festival for three years running. He was recently featured in the Media Literacy Documentary, “Media Literacy, Asking Questions.”
