This year I decided to try shooting a reader’s theater.  Students acted out as they read the script I created from an OCR story from the Friendship Unit "Mushroom in the Rain."  

 

Students' reading skills greatly improved all year long because of diverse activities such as this movie. They were highly motivated to give their very best because they wanted to look good!

 

However, I had two groups of actors to create only one movie! So instead of selecting the best group and creating frustrated students, I used all voices recorded during the acting and still pictures of the actors taken during the shooting. Then I selected the best of everyone during editing. I added background and drawings to the visuals.
