Our first whole class project.  This film was shot as reader’s theater.  Students are reading from the script, however, you will not see the students reading as there will be animated images of the students acting out the script shown.  

 
By reading and rereading the script, students saw a 19% jump in reading fluency scores.  The film is meant to align with first grade Open Court folktales unit.
 
I used digital still photography instead of digital video because the better quality image, ability to manipulate those images, and because my miniDV camera was broken at the time.
 
A winner for Best Implementation of the District Reading Program in the 2005 Video in the Classroom (VIC) Awards.
 
Winner Best Language Arts Film in the California Student Media Festival.
 
Finalist for best overall film in the state of California.
